Welcome to the World of Agnost

Hello and welcome to the World of my religious beliefs - or disbeliefs. Please keep in mind that I do not want to convince anybody of anything. This writing is only about to detail some of my thoughts on religion. To me the purpose of this site is to get to know people with whom it is possible to consider or ignore important and interesting topics like god, religion or doing right and wrong without too much fruitless prejudice or exhausting hostility. So if you like it, drop me a note. If you don't like it of if you think that I am partly or utterly wrong, please tell me why. But: Be friendly. Thanks. And now let's get into it.

To me, religion is an opinion. Say, just like music. Some people like classical music others like Punkrock, well yes, so what? And some people prefer to be Moslems, others are Christians, Hindus or believe in some voodoo cult or whatever, so what? But just as there are some people who say classical music (or Jazz, Rockabilly or Punkrock) is the only real music and everything else is just annoying noise, are there people who say that their religion is the only real thing and everything else is just superstition. This is, where it gets interesting...

Why do they want to believe so desperately? Well, here's my theory about that: People usually believe in the religion they are accustomed to. If your parents are christians, your teachers, your friends and your friends parents you don't become a moslem, and vice versa. So you get used to that religion, you feel at home, secure and in good hands. This is of cours a nice and cozy feeling and what makes you think that your religion is the right one. Of course the religion is arbitrary and works with anyone, it is just the idea of having found the right place in and an explanation of a confusing world that makes you feel good.

These are not my opinions because I want it to be that way. Of course I'd love to see a proof that there is a god who leads our steps and takes care of us and all that. But I think that if there is a god it exists in a level so utterly different from ours that it is impossible for us to grasp. When it comes to these things we are clueless like a dog that tries to understand chess.

So I think that everyone who claims that he/she knows what god is, thinks or wants is in my current opinion someone who can't stand the uncertainty inherent in life and has a strong tendency towards wishful thinking. Usually I wouldn't mind that, but right now those people who claim to know the only truth make this world an increasingly unhappy place to live in. That is not good. But what to do about it? I thought, some unagitated looks on that matter might help so I put up this site.
